What a prop firm reset costs

Education only · numbers last read on firm pages on · no affiliate links on this page

A reset restarts your evaluation after you break a rule, usually for less than a new evaluation costs. Whether that is a good deal depends on how the firm bills, and it is easy to forget the other meter that keeps running.

What a reset is

When an evaluation account hits its loss limit it fails. A reset gives you a fresh account with the same rules for a fee. Some firms don’t sell resets, so you buy a new evaluation instead. The fee is separate from the original price, and a discount code usually doesn’t apply to it: Topstep says promo, referral and affiliate codes apply to a first purchase only, not to resets or activation Official.

How resets interact with billing

A worked example (arithmetic only)

Tradeify Growth 50K: a new evaluation is $145 and a reset is $95, so a reset costs $50 less (34% less) than starting over. If a hypothetical trader reset three times, the reset fees alone would be $285, on top of the original $145: $430 in total. That is a what-if to show the arithmetic, not a typical number.

What three resets would cost in fees alone (no evaluation fee, no discount):

Using this in the calculator

PropFeeCheck has an input for resets paid per account and a switch for whether you assume you reset or buy a new evaluation after a fail. Both are your assumptions. See also the true cost of an evaluation. Try three resets at 50K
